Introductory NoteThis author has researched health issues related to fluoride poisoning for well over 20 years.  In fact, he knew of fluoride dangers as far back as his high school days in the 1960’s, when he did a report on it.  Twenty years ago he did his first expose’ on it –  Health Dangers and Discoveries that covered other health issues as well.  The next expose’ this author did was Fluoride Fraud  in 2009.

While this author has done a great amount of in-depth research on a wide variety of subjects, one of the most important of them all is the area of health.  If you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.  Your health is your wealth.  Besides genetically modified plants and animals used for our food, medical drug treatments, and chemical additives that are poisoning our food and environment, fluoridation remains one of the greatest threats to human health.  This author sees his children and grandchildren as well as others, polluting and poisoning their systems with this very potent toxic substance.  This can’t go on without serious consequences.  It’s time to WAKE UP to reality!  Fluoride, whether in water, toothpaste, or medications or otherwise, is a highly toxic poison.  It’s that plain and simple.  Take the time to read the facts below – it’s your health, your life that’s on the line.  Think about it and act to protect yourself before it’s too late.

What is Fluoride?

The fluoride used in the city water supply and in toothpaste and medications is sodium fluoride.  According to Dr. Charles A. Brusch, B.S., M.D., Director of the Cambridge Medical Center in Boston, MA (in the 1950’s), “Sodium fluoride is a highly toxic protoplasmic poison, 15 times stronger than arsenic, having radioactive properties.”  [ As quoted in FLUORIDATION OF WATER, pages 121-136 and 141-244 of Hearings before the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, House of Representatives, Eighty-third Congress, Second session on H.R. 2341: A Bill to Protect the Public Health From the Dangers of Fluorination of Water.  May 25, 26 & 27, 1954. ]

Dr. Brusch also stated that “The smaller the dose (of fluoride), the greater the activity.”  This appears to indicate that smaller dosages of fluoride can be more harmful than larger amounts regarding its radioactive effects.

Furthermore,  sodium fluoride is an inorganic compound found as a by product of the aluminum industry.

“It was in the year 1939 that a famous institute in the eastern part of the United States commissioned the institute’s biochemist to find a use for the sodium fluoride wastes produced by aluminum pot lines, some 45 other industries had fluoride disposal problems, too.  Many were tormented by expensive damage suits arising from the noxious effects of the poison on livestocks and smelters, tile, ceramics plants, and many installations of the Atomic Energy Commission were involved.  The cost of elimination of the chemical was fantastically high.  Couldn’t this by product be put to a profitable use instead?

“Now, this biochemist was a clever and cunning man, and he came up with a big money-making idea:  Why not dissolve the stuff in drinking water?”  [ THE SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT WATER by Paul C. Bragg, N.D., Ph.D. – p 6. ]

This biochemist with no medical background, without studying the effects on the human body, put his idea across to the big companies.  The next step was to have the advertising companies sell the idea and brainwash the American public.  The propaganda line was that fluoride prevents tooth decay.  As we shall see later on, research proved otherwise.

Dr. Royale Lee of the Lee Foundation for Nutritional Research gives a further insight into the nature of sodium fluoride.

“Dr. Lee points out that the only form in which fluorine can be used by the body is in organic combination, after inorganic soil fluoride has been taken up by plants and converted into an organic form.  Inorganic fluorides, on the other hand, act as a cumulative poison.  This means that they cannot be used as can organic fluorine compounds, and, acting as foreign impurities, accumulate in the body, even if taken in a very small dose.  Organic fluorine does not accumulate in the body, regardless of the dosage; and it is the only form in which fluorine can be safely used and utilized by the teeth for the manufacture of their enamel.  Now it is important to note that the sodium fluoride added to city water is inorganic, not organic.  Moreover, it is a chemical, and not a natural inorganic compound as found in soil or in water, and whose excess in certain areas has been known to cause mottling of the teeth – for it is much stronger in its chemical action and is a deadly poison.”  [ THE REVOLT AGAINST CHEMICALS by Dr. Raymond Bernard, p 8. ]

The Effects of Fluoride on Human Health

Fluoride is a highly toxic cumulative poison.  This means it accumulates little by little, dosage after dosage until the cumulative affect is chronic poisoning of the human body which gives rise to diseases such as cancer, heart disease, kidney failure, and bone ailments (including hip joint failure) etc.  As noted above, fluoride is much more toxic than arsenic.  Would you put arsenic in your water supply or in your toothpaste and medications?  Fluoride is much more soluble and 1 part per million contains 0.25 milligrams of hydrofluoric acid to a glass of water.

Fluoride has a direct and poisonous effect on the protoplasmic cells of the body which are the originators of life.  Since sodium fluoride is protoplasmic poison, it affects every cell in the body.  Each system of the body is affected in different ways.  Absorption of sodium fluoride into the cells and tissues of the body varies according to age, sex, and the health of the individual.  The very young and the elderly absorb it more readily than other age groups.  Women with higher metabolism absorb more sodium fluoride than men or women with normal metabolism.  People with fevers or with chronic diseases, or those with nutritional (vitamin and mineral) deficiencies absorb more sodium fluoride than those that are well nourished.

Before sodium fluoride was put in toothpaste and in the city water supply it was being used as a rat poison and as an insecticide ( i.e. roach killer, ant killer, etc.).

Further evidence of fluoride’s  cumulative effect is noted in the following:  “Fluoride accumulates in the body.  Healthy adult kidneys excrete 50 to 60% of the fluoride ingested each day(Marier & Rose 1971).  Any remaining fluoride accumulates in the body, typically in the bones and pineal gland (Luke 1997, 2001).  Babies and children excrete less fluoride from their kidneys and absorb up to 80% of ingested fluoride into their bones (Ekstrand 1994).  The concentration of fluoride in the bones increases over a lifetime (NRC 2006).”  [ “Top 10 Dangers of Fluoride” by Ann Marie Michaels.  Dec. 26, 2011. ]

Fluoride, Tooth Decay and Health Risks

The propaganda line for 60 some years has been,  “Fluoride prevents tooth decay.”  Most all Americans believe this lie.  Research evidence proves otherwise.  Of course this research has been covered up and kept from the public.  First of all, what really causes tooth decay?

“Dr. Royal Lee, in an article, ‘Poison in Your Water,’ in October, 1955, ‘Health Culture,’ points out that tooth decay is not such a simple problem as a lack of fluorine, as advocates of fluoridation would lead one to believe, but results from endocrine diets composed of white bread, refined sugar, etc.  Dietary deficiency causes glandular starvation; and when the parathyroid glands, which control calcium metabolism, are affected, tooth decay sets in.”  [ THE REVOLT AGAINST CHEMICALS by Dr. Raymond Bernard – p 8. ]

Concerning the dangers of fluoride in toothpaste consider this:  “But does fluoride actually prevent tooth decay?  Not according to the largest study ever conducted on fluoridation and oral health.  39,000 school children in 84 areas around the U.S. were studied in the mid-80’s, and the results showed no statistical difference in tooth decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated cities.

“Meanwhile, tooth decay trends tracked by the World Health Organization from 1970 to the present show that the incidence of decayed, missing or filled teeth has been steadily in decline with each passing year in the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Iceland and Greece.  And why are the numbers of decayed teeth on the decline?  Better oral hygiene and improved dental practice is the most obvious answer.  It’s certainly not the fluoride.  Because of all of those countries, only one adds fluoride to the public water supply:  the United States.

“A few of the countries listed above used to put fluoride in some of their water, but they eventually wised up to the dangers of this aluminum by-product.  And here’s some truly radical thinking for you: many of those countries simply refuse to run fluoride through every citizen’s faucets based on the idea that health treatments should be a personal choice and not mandated by the government.  What a concept!”  [ “Where the Yellow Went – Dangers of Fluoride in Toothpaste” by Health Sciences Institute e-Alert.  July 15, 2002.  Global Healing Center: Natural Health and Organic Living. ]

Incidentally, water fluoridation has been banned in many countries including:  China, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hungary, and Japan.  Nearly all of Europe’s water supply is fluoride-free.

Over 95% of toothpaste sold in the U.S. now contains fluoride.  Fluoride is so poisonous the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires a poison warning on every tube sold.  The warning reads:  “Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age.  If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately.”

From the Fluoride Alert website we learn,  “Risks from ingesting fluoride toothpaste include permanent tooth discoloration (dental fluorosis), stomach ailments, acute toxicity, skin rashes (perioral dermatitis), and impairment in glucose metabolism.  All of these risks have been unnecessarily increased by the marketing practices of toothpaste manufacturers, who use cartoon packaging and candy-flavors to target ‘adult-strength’ fluoride toothpaste to young ‘children.’  The dental community’s failure to educate the public about the dangers of swallowing too much fluoride toothpaste has further exacerbated the problem.”  [Dental Products.  Fluoride Action Network. ]

Fluoride toothpaste is a major source of children’s daily intake of fluoride.  “Fluoride toothpastes sold in the U.S. generally contain between 1,100 and 1,450 parts per million (ppm) fluoride (the equivalent of over 1 mg of fluoride for each gram of paste).  Although the fine print on the back of the toothpaste tube instructs users not to swallow and to use only a ‘pea-sized’ amount, advertisements continue to depict heaping swirls of paste on the brush, (Basch 2013), and manufacturers continue to market fluoride toothpastes in bubble-gum, fruit, and candy-like flavors (Basch 2014).  Using child-appealing flavors is particularly dangerous because young children have poorly developed swallowing reflexes, and invariably swallow large amounts of the paste they add to the brush.

“Not surprisingly, numerous studies have found that many children ingest a significant amount of fluoride each day from toothpaste alone (http//  According to the Journal of Public Health Dentistry:  ‘Virtually all authors have noted that some children could ingest more fluoride from (toothpaste) alone than is recommended as a total daily fluoride ingestion.’ (Levy 1999).”   [Ibid. ]

There is also a major risk factor for dental fluorosis.  “One side effect from swallowing too much fluoride is dental fluorosis (  Dental fluorosis is a defect in tooth enamel caused by excessive fluoride intake during the tooth-forming years (age 0 to 8).  In the mild forms, dental fluorosis presents as cloudy white splotches ( and streaks on the teeth, while in its moderate and severe forms, fluorosis can cause extensive brown and black staining ( fluorosis 05/) along with pitting and crumbling of the enamel.  Children who ingest a lot of toothpaste (whether accidentally or purposefully), can develop the disfiguring brown and black stains of advanced fluorosis, particularly if they also drink fluoridated water.  Fluorosis on the front teeth, even in its ‘mild ( fluorosis 04b)’ form, but especially in its severe ( fluorosis04a/) forms, can cause self-esteem problems for a child, particularly when they reach adolescence. “  [Ibid. ]

Acute poisoning from fluoride toothpaste is another ever-present danger.  In 1997 the FDA ordered toothpaste manufacturers to add a poison warning to fluoride toothpaste sold in the U.S.  (We quoted the warning earlier).  The reason for this warning is that children can and often do swallow too much fluoridated toothpaste and can suffer acute poisoning.  “In fact, a single tube of bubble-gum flavored Colgate-for-Kids toothpaste contains enough fluoride (143 mg) to kill a child ( weighing less than 30 kg. (Whitford 1987a).

“While fatalities from fluoride ingestion are rare (the last reported death occurred in 2002), bouts of acute fluoride poisoning ( are not.  Acute fluoride poisoning, which occurs at doses as low as 0.1 to 0.2 mg per kg of bodyweight, generally presents in the form of gastric pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and flu-like symptoms.  (Akiniwa 1997; Gessner 1994).  A child weighing 10 kg would only need to ingest 1 to 3 grams of paste (less than 3% of a tube of Colgate-for-Kids) to experience one or more of these symptoms.

“Although it is believed that many poisoning incidents from fluoride toothpaste go undiagnosed and unreported (Shulman 1997), the number of calls to Poison Control Centers in the U.S. for fluoride poisonings from toothpaste has skyrocketed since the FDA issued its poison warning.  Indeed, in the early 1990s (prior to the FDA’s warning), there were about 1,000 poisoning reports each year from fluoride toothpaste.  (Shulman 1997).  Today, there are over 23,000 reports a year, resulting in hundreds of emergency room treatments.”   [ “Dental Products – Fluoride Action Network/Toothpaste.”   Fluoride Alert website. ]

The above Poison Control Center reports are taken from data from:  Brownstein (2009, 2010) and Watson (2003).

Another danger of fluoride toothpaste ingestion is skin rashes and canker sores.

“Among some individuals, the use of fluoride toothpaste may cause or aggravate perioral dermatitis ( (a rosacea-like skin rash around the mouth).  (McCaffery 2003; Mellette 1983, 1976).  The condition usually appears in women between the ages of 20 and 50.  Where fluoride toothpaste is the cause of the condition, significant improvement in symptoms will be experienced within a few weeks of using a non-fluoridated toothpaste.  In addition to dermatitis, fluoride toothpaste may also cause stomatitis ( (i.e., mouth ulcers, ‘canker sores’).  (Brun 2004; Douglas 1957).

Yet another health risk is impaired glucose metabolism.  “Perhaps the most important, yet most overlooked, risk from excessive ingestion of fluoride toothpaste, is the impact it can have on blood glucose and insulin levels.  In the 1980s, researchers at the University of Indiana reported that rats receiving acute, but relatively small, doses (0.5 mg/kg) of fluoride, had significantly higher glucose levels in their blood, and decreased levels of insulin.  (Shahed 1986; Whitford 1987b).  Since that time, numerous studies have repeated this finding (in both animals and humans) at doses which many children routinely ingest from fluoride toothpaste.  It is now estimated, for example, that blood fluoride levels of just 95 ppb produce an increase in glucose levels and a decrease in insulin.  (Menoyo 2005).  Strikingly, this level is routinely exceeded by about 5 to 10% of children using fluoride toothpaste (particularly those living in fluoridated communities).”  [ Ibid. ]

An example of just how poisonous fluoride toothpaste can be, is given to us by Isabel Jansen, author, registered nurse, retired oral surgical assistant and a graduate of Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI).  She has done considerable research on fluoridation and has published articles in several scientific journals.  Regarding fluoridated toothpaste she states,  “I keep a small tube of fluoridated toothpaste in the house BUT NOT TO BRUSH MY TEETH WITH.  I have found that about an inch of this toothpaste mixed with a cup of water will kill ants on contact.”  [ FLUORIDATION  by Isabel Jansen, R.N. – p 95. ]

Sources of Fluoride

Sources of fluoride include city fluoridated water, toothpaste with fluoride, baby formula, foods cooked in fluoride, canned soups or soups in restaurants, mechanically deboned chicken ( i.e. chicken nuggets), food cooked in Teflon cookware, soda-pop and soft drinks, fruit juice (unless fresh-pressed), beer and wine bottled in the U.S., coffee or tea (if made with fluoridated water), packaged and processed foods, anesthetics, fluoridated salt, cigarettes.  Any food or beverage made with city tap water (most often fluoridated).  Aluminum cookware (from which fluoride is a by-product) is also dangerous and should be avoided.

The Top Fluoride Dangers

The most dangerous aspects of fluoride are the following:  Fluoride is a slow, cumulative poison which lodges in bodily tissues including the bones.  The kidneys only remove 50-60-% of it in adults and much less in children.  Bottle-fed babies ingest high doses of fluoride.  Fluoride destroys the male reproductive system.  Fluoride interferes with the function of the brain – accumulates in the brain along with aluminum which leads to alzheimers disease.  Also, the more fluoride exposure, the more reduced IQ.  (One of the reasons for those in power to fluoridate water, toothpaste, medications, etc., is to dumb-down the population so they would be easier to control).

Fluoride causes early puberty, reduces the function of the thyroid gland, causes arthritis, damages the bones causing hip-fractures in the elderly and more.  For further insight of these fluoride dangers, see:  “Top 10 Dangers of Fluoride” at

How to Avoid Fluoride

            Avoid processed and packaged foods.
Buy fluoride-free toothpaste.
Avoid fluoride treatments at the dentist.
Filter you tap water (if in the city).
Don’t drink soda pop, or coffee or iced tea at restaurants.
Don’t drink bottled water (with the exception of European water) as it is usually fluoridated.
Order European mineral water in restaurants.
Drink wine and beer imported from Europe.
Don’t use tap water to make baby formula (if in the city).
Don’t smoke.
Don’t use Teflon (non-stick) cookware.
Don’t use aluminum cookware.

Fluoride Conclusions

The true facts concerning the dangers of fluoride have been censored, suppressed and blacked-out from public view.  This author has been in this fight for the truth concerning this and other health issues and knows for certain there is a deliberate campaign to keep the true facts hidden.  Most all countries of the world (except the United States) have either not allowed this dangerous fluoride compound to be put in their water and products or if having done so, realized later the harm it was causing and have now banned it.  More and more now, respected Medical Professionals and Scientists are warning of long-term health consequences.

If you think Officialdom’s so-called health officials are protecting the public, think again!  Consider this:  Former FDA Commissioner stated,  “The thing that bugs me is that the people think the FDA is protecting them.  It isn’t!  What the FDA is doing and what the public thinks it is doing are as different as day night.”   So where does this leave us?  As registered nurse and author, Isabel Jansen tells us,  “Truly, the Public Health Service doesn’t do much protecting when 680 additives are considered ‘safe’ despite no tests.”  From the Christian Science Monitor comes this editorial remark of October 20, 1969:  “It is left to the consumers themselves to puzzle out and try to protect themselves from inept protectors.”  How’s that for a does of reality.  But it is actually worse than that.

There is a concerted effort to keep the truth from reaching the public concerning this health issue as well as many others, partly due to the influence of big corporations who are more concerned about their “bottom line.”  Actually it goes beyond this but that is another story.  It is up to the individual to educate himself to the health dangers that threaten him.  It is up to him, and him alone to protect himself.  No government agency is going to do that for him.  Time to wake up and face reality.

“I am appalled at the prospect of using water as a vehicle for drugs.  Fluoride is a corrosive poison that will produce serious effects on a long range basis.  Any attempt to use water this way is deplorable.”

— Dr. Charles Gordon Heyd, Past President of the American Medical Association.
